2012 Update:

Garrettford has seen a few changes this year. We have the addition of a security guard at the main doors. We gave a warm welcome Karen Mc Menamin.

A few staff members became known to the students by different names due to the celebration of their marriages. Amanda Iacono (Garr. Speech Therapist) married in the summer is now Mrs. Spinogatti. Erica Marconi (Garr. Social Worker) married in Dec. is now Mrs. Spatichia.

Kara Buchy (2nd gr teacher) and her husband welcomed a son into their family in late Dec. Connal is a blessed addition for the family and his two older siblings.

Pat Cocco who has been a part of Garrettford for the past 32.5 yrs. retired in February. Pat has been involved in Garrettford in many capacities throughout the years, the first being a parent. We will miss Pat immensely and wish her well with this new endeavor.

Colleen Rodriquez's (4th gr. teacher) son, Corporal Shaun Rodriquez, presently stationed in San Diego, CA was recently married.

There are some new grandchildren among the staff. Connie Calvanese welcomed a granddaughter, Anne Donohue welcomed a grandson, and Irene Zahner welcomed a grandson.

On the school front, Garrettford is the proud recipient of the mayor’s "Community" award for the ornaments made by Garrettford students for the township tree lighting ceremony

"Mr. Hank", one of our volunteers, received a "Service to Children" award at Pennsylvania State University.

Garrettford truly is a "great place to grow" for all.



2011 Update:
Garrettford Elementary School celebrated its 100th birthday in February of 2010. Many special guests were invited to enjoy the celebration. They included township dignitaries, former teachers, staff and students. Garrettford received two citations and one proclamation for our 100th celebration. The two citations were from The House of Representatives, and the Senate. The proclamation was issued from the Upper Darby Township for providing 100 years of excellence in education. Along with speakers, a program of vocal and instrumental music directed by Linda Pennington and Martin Hyde was enjoyed by all who attended.

Garrettford’s theme for the year 2010 – 2011school year is “Celebrating Diversity”

Nicole Radio welcomed her second son, Luke Patrick, into the world in November. She is enjoying being home with her children.

Clare O”Donnell now teaches third grade.

Nicole Dougherty is a welcome addition to our staff. She is teaching fifth grade.

During the month of December, students and faculty made contributions to various charities within the Philadelphia area to brighten their holiday season.

Garrettford held their third Annual Family Reading Night on February 16th.

Linda Pennington announced her retirement as of June 2011. The Mainliners Barbershop Chorus presented Linda with a plaque thanking her for the many years shared together on Garrettford’s stage. She is looking forward to enjoying more time with her five grandchildren
