Aronimink happily welcomed two new staff members this school year. Our first addition is Cheryl Pauly. Cheryl previously taught at Bywood Elementary School and is now on our fourth grade team. Our second new member is Amy Davenport who came to us from Stonehurst and now teaches second grade.
Donna Freas, a fourth grade teacher at Aronimink welcomed her first child in January. She is now taking time to be with her son.
This year, Aronimink’s Annual Reading Challenge is “The Genre Challenge Bingo Card.” Each student was asked to read seven books in order to complete his or her bingo card. As books are read, students color in a square on their bingo card. The objective is to read seven books and fill out seven squares, vertically, horizontally, or diagonally in order to complete the Genre Challenge.
Aronimink families were able to take part in many projects that helped make them aware of people’s needs in the community. Some of these projects included, a recycling contest, blood donations, and a “Wrap it Up” party run by Lauren Knapp that allows student council to get in contact with Social workers in the district to help adopt families for the holidays that are needy. The students in Mrs. Knapp’s class wrapped all the gifts that were collected. Then the district social workers gathered the gifts and distributed them to the families.
Our own Mr. Jimmy received the Upper Darby School Board Leadership Award. The School Board of Directors at a meeting earlier this month presented Mr. Jimmy with a plague. Aronimink Faculty, Staff, Parents, and Students were all in attendance to support Mr. Jimmy for this accomplishment.
